On July 6th, Mrs. Jet Bussemaker, the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science, visited the National Aerospace Laboratory in Marknesse. She was shown around the new ‘Automated Composite Manufacturing Pilot Plant’, which is widely regarded as a key step in developing expert knowledge of composites in the Netherlands. The plant is outfitted with ultra-modern equipment, including one of the largest robotic composite fibre braiding machines in Europe and a state-of-the-art carbon fibre placement robot. Initiated by LABEL/BREED in March 2014, Marleen Kaptein has worked together with the engineers from NLR to design a chair with this equipment. During her visit, Mrs. Bussemaker was informed on this unique collaboration and the result. The chair has been presented at the Salone del Mobile in April 2015, has been very well received by the international crowd in Milan and will soon be available.
